The Senior Corps Program was launched in March 2010. We found that there are seniors who are confined to assisted living or nursing homes that want to give back to the community by volunteering, but are unable to leave their facility. Canine Assisted Therapy brings the volunteer opportunity to them. The seniors observe the C.A.T. Evaluation and Temperament testing, and after the dogs have passed eight elements of the nine-element evaluation, the Senior Corps volunteers participate by being part of a crowd of wheelchairs and walkers for the dogs to walk through. They also encourage the dogs and their owners and have the fun of congratulating the graduates with extra love and attention.

The seniors get the great satisfaction of giving back to the community without having to leave home.
